Situating Tool

 -Concept of Situating Tool



-Reflection or write up for the situating tool.

In this session, we have learned about the situating tool and some of its applications in our real life. Situating tool is a systems or applications which situates user in the environment where they experienced the context and happenings. Situating tools includes virtual reality, 3D computer simulated images experiential learning environment, simulations instructional games. This particular tools helps the students to integrate the theories into practical thereby helping to conceptualize the ideas. Moreover, situating tool situates the user in the environment, enhanced communication and interaction through online games, encouraged the users to comprehend and manipulate the ideas thereby fostering creativity and visualization skills. Henceforth, it is must that we as a teacher need to integrate situating tools in the classroom. Some of the applications through which we can integrate the situating tool in teaching and learning process are;

Experience of virtual reality environment using google earth of the visiting place and knowing about the world.

Calculate the distance of the place using google earth.

Using educational software such as GraphCalc and GeoGebra for predicting and observing the variables for generating line graph.

Using simulations games to feel the experience about the virtual reality environment.

In all, I found the session and topic itself very intriguing when we use those simulations in practical. We make sure that we are familiar with all the simulations or applications by going through how to use the google earth, playing the simulations game, creating a graph using GeoGebra, and finally constructing equilateral triangle in GeoGebra. The session had been a winsome one with learning how to make use of those simulations and applications in real life. Of all, the session instill in my mind the thought on how intriguing and interactive the classroom will be if we integrate the situating tool. It will probably ensure positive impact in the learning phase of a children when it has the power to activate our learning journey with much enthusiasm.



Here is the step on how we have construct equilateral triangle using GeoGebra:

Step 1: go to https://www.geogebra.org/

Step 2: login with the personal gmail account (gmail.com)

Step 3: then click on the calculators menu, select the graphic calculator option, https://www.geogebra.org/graphing

Step 4: draw two points A and B using the New Point tool

Step 5: draw the line segment between points AB

Step 6:  from A, draw a circle through B using the Circle with Centre through a point tool

Step 7: from B, draw a circle through A using the Circle with Centre through a point tool

Step 8: find one intersection C of the two circles using the Intersect Two Objects tool




Afterwards, our tutor also gives us a steps on how to construct a square using GeoGebra:

Step 1: draw the line AB

 Step 2: perpendicular line

Step 3: Centre of point B to A

Step 4: intersection point

Step 5: bring or drag the perpendicular line

Step 6: Centre of point A to B
